* KQWB West Fargo ND 1660 heard in Furuögrund on September 12th! * WTAW College Station TX 1620 heard in Furuögrund on September 10th!
* The season has begun better than expected! No night to remember but a few OK ones... * Reception report follow up letters have resulted in a few verifications. See separate page!. As for a few years now a reply percentage of around 30% can be expected but it is not the ones you expect that QSL... A few surprises makes it even more interesting! * My short wire (500 meter) antenna project has not been launched yet... * This winter's expeditions are just beginning to interest listeners all over Sweden but nothing is planed so far. Parkalompolo could be an interesting alternative for many! Interested in going on your own expedition or joining another group? Send me a mail!
The new season has started off in an interesting way. Better than expected I think. On the 10th I made my first all night check for this season and was fortunate enough to hear and record a few program details and a station ID from the new Texas station on 1620! "New" as to my knowledge noone in Sweden has logged it before this... They came on air too late last season to make it here. Should become a fairly easy catch as nights are getting longer. On the 11th WTAW was real strong and dominant and on the 12th the new KQWB (Only slogans heard.) 1660 made it fine. Nothing from AL-1700 so far... The rest of the AM band did not interest under these conditions, but a couple of hundred stations were heard. I guess I would have had problem finding any interesting ones...
1-3.9 No listening/recording as Barbro and I were on our way home from a trip to Denmark. 4-8.9 A few nights with the videorecorder only gave Argentina 1620. 9.9 My all night video recording gave WAFN-1700 for 30 minutes with weak but constant signal. 10.9 First active listening. Disturbed signals jumping from Venezuela via Puerto Rico to Nova Scotia and back for well over one hour. After 0120 better signals from Canada and then USA came too. Several dominats heard well for short periods and short and weak fade ins of most X-banders on the east coast and in Texas. After 0315 UTC too weak to continue listening. 11.9 A days work ahead so only 90 minutes active listening in the late night, but very interesting minutes. . . Most X-banders east of the Rockies were heard and WTAW 1620 very strong dominant. Forgot to check 1660 for ND but heard them next night... 12.9 Had to go to work one hour earlier than normal so no time for listening. Recorded 1660 and 1700 all night on the video and heard this new format from KQXX and the all new "Star 1660" from Fargo ND! They were dominant under these auroral conditions. 13-22.9 Nothing. Only X-band frequencies checked so maybe some 50 kW stations at sunrise... 23.9 Lots of Brazilian stations in the night and about one hour before sunrise some Manitoba and Iowa stations. First west coast signal from KGA 1510. After sunrise a fine South America opening. I did not check any of the SS signals for ID... 24.9 No LA stations in the night. Same sunrise opening as the day before. Better signals and more states covered. At about 0400 UTC a fine Peru skip. Radio Santa Rosa 1500 real strong on my 1200 m North America longwires. 1470 also strong but no ID. 25.9 A few canadians around sunrise here. Ustable signals and only a few standard stations heard. 26-27.9 Not much noted. CKMW-1570 both mornings and on 1700 KQXX 26.9 but very badly. 28-30.9 Nothing heard.
